About the role
Make complex software feel simple for our customers.
As a Software & Data Installation Technician, you’ll own the successful deployment of our software solutions for customers – from first install through to go‑live and handover. You’ll install and configure applications, build and load data, and make sure everything runs smoothly in real customer environments.
You’ll work closely with customers, Professional Services, Product Management, Support and external partners to deliver reliable, well‑documented solutions that are easy to support and that customers love to use.
This is a remote role anywhere in the UK, with travel to customer sites when required. We aim to keep this as local as possible.
- Install, configure and deploy software solutions – including associated data builds – remotely and on customer sites as needed.
- Deliver end‑to‑end implementations, ensuring solutions are set up accurately and in line with agreed customer requirements and timelines.
- Test software thoroughly to confirm functionality and performance before go‑live.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during installation, testing or deployment.
- Produce clear, accurate documentation, including customer sign‑off materials.
- Prepare comprehensive handover documentation so Support teams can pick up smoothly.
- Work collaboratively with customers and internal stakeholders to provide a high‑quality implementation experience.
- Manage multiple implementations at once, maintaining strong organisation and attention to detail.
- Maintain a professional, customer‑focused approach throughout the delivery process.
Essential
- Experience installing, configuring and testing software applications in real customer or production‑like environments.
- Good understanding of data builds and deployment processes (e.g. environment setup, data loading, validation).
- Strong troubleshooting skills – able to diagnose and resolve issues methodically.
- Ability to follow technical specifications and apply structured testing to ensure solutions meet agreed requirements.
- Comfortable working remotely with customers and colleagues, and adapting to different technical environments.
- Clear, concise written documentation skills for customer sign‑off and internal handover.
- Ability to explain technical information in a way non‑technical stakeholders can understand.
- Strong organisation and time‑management skills – able to manage multiple implementations and deadlines.
- Professional, customer‑focused mindset and the ability to work independently with appropriate ownership.
Nice to have
- Experience in software implementation, application support, technical consulting or similar roles.
- Exposure to industrial, manufacturing or building‑materials environments (e.g. PVC products) – particularly within the BM Group context.
- Familiarity with integration work (e.g. connecting applications, data flows between systems).
If you’ve worked in roles such as implementation consultant, application support engineer, technical consultant or similar – especially with responsibility for installs, data and go‑lives – we’d love to hear from you.
