As a Consultant Psychiatrist at HMP Chelmsford, you will become a critical member of the Mental Health Team, working within a Category B prison and Young Offender Institution for adult males aged 18+, located in Chelmsford. The role focuses not only on delivering patient-centered care but also on service development and clinical leadership. The environment is unique and highly rewarding, offering you the opportunity to provide care to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the criminal justice system. Working on-site and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you'll conduct comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessments, treat individuals with stable and acute mental health needs, and manage complex cases where mental and physical health intersect. Your role will also involve safe and effective prescribing, contributing to key clinical decisions, and ensuring care is evidence-based.
