The Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Emergency Care Practitioner (ENP/ECP) will provide autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management and discharge of patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses within the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC). Working within their professional scope of practice, the post holder will make independent clinical decisions, request and interpret investigations, prescribe where qualified, and develop appropriate management plans to ensure safe, effective and timely patient care.
Undertake autonomous assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, and discharge of patients presenting with minor injuries and illnesses. Request, interpret, and act upon appropriate investigations within scope of practice. Prescribe medications and treatments where appropriately qualified and authorised. Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and legally compliant patient documentation. Act as a senior clinical decision maker within the Enhanced Streaming Team, ensuring patients are directed to the most appropriate clinical pathway. Support timely patient flow and contribute to the achievement of departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and national standards. Provide expert clinical guidance, leadership, and support to junior colleagues and multidisciplinary team members. Participate in teaching, supervision, and the professional development of staff.Promote a culture of patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement.Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Urgent Treatment Centre, Emergency Department, Acute Services, Community Services, and Primary Care to ensure seamless patient care. Ensure the delivery of a high-quality, safe, effective, and patient-centred service at all times.
