We are currently looking for a Senior R&D Engineer, Modeling & Simulation, to join our Neurovascular Operating Unit in Irvine, California. Be a part of engineering a comprehensive portfolio of proven, powerful neurovascular technologies, setting the highest standards of integrity and reliability in Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic Stroke Care.
Work independently under general supervision within a computational modeling team to generate new simulation tools or apply existing tools for the prediction of device performance and safety.
At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward quickly and decisively to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We’re working at least four days a week onsite as part of our commitment to professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we engineer the extraordinary.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to
:
Develop, implement, and utilize advanced finite element analysis (FEA) models to support the design, development, and evaluation of neurovascular devices.
Apply deep knowledge of solid mechanics, continuum mechanics, constitutive modeling, nonlinear material behavior, contact mechanics, large deformation analysis, and failure mechanics to solve complex biomedical engineering challenges.
Develop and validate material models for polymers, metals, braided structures, biological tissues, and other medical device materials using experimental characterization data.
Build, execute, and interpret simulations using commercial and open-source FEA platforms such as Abaqus, FEBio, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, or equivalent structural mechanics software.
Design and perform structural, quasi-static, dynamic, fatigue, and explicit analyses to evaluate device deployment, durability, performance, and interaction with vascular anatomy.
Experience with model verification, validation,
statistical shape modeling, and uncertainty quantification
