About the role
HEAD OF MARKETING
ABOUT MINERVA
Minerva builds AI for marketing leaders. Our platform lets marketers focus on telling the story of their brand while AI agents handle the operationally intensive work: data management, segment creation, analytics, measurement and reporting.
Everything is built on Minerva's proprietary consumer graph: an identity and attribute layer covering 270M+ U.S. consumers across 2,000+ through-time attributes. On top of it sit two agentic systems built in partnership with OpenAI: an Agentic Data Engineer that unifies and standardizes a brand's first-party data in hours, and an Agentic Data Scientist that trains robust targeting models at scale. Together, our data and platform improve the quality of a brand's first-party data, lift campaign performance and give marketing teams their time back.
We work with leading consumer brands across categories, including the NBA, Capital One, Hard Rock Stadium Group / Miami Dolphins, Wander and Trust & Will. We've raised $20M from The General Partnership, 8VC, Lingotto, NBA Investments, Topology Ventures, Future Positive, Background Capital and many others. Our team brings together operators and investors from Citadel, Dentsu, Bridgewater, Meta Superintelligence and Lazard, alongside researchers from Berkeley, MIT, Stanford and Cambridge.
THE ROLE
Minerva has grown on product and word of mouth, the kind of organic pull most companies spend millions trying to manufacture. Customers find us, our network sends us deals, and the product earns the rest. Now we're building the marketing function to match the product, and you'll lead it.
This is the senior marketing seat. You own positioning, the pipeline engine and the number, and you decide what the function becomes: what we build in-house, what agencies run and who we hire next. A content and product marketing lead, a role we're hiring now, runs the publishing calendar and launch execution and will report to you. Agencies run paid media, PR and creative production under your direction.
It's still a seat that does the work. You'll write the first messaging hierarchy yourself, and you'll be in the numbers every week.
One thing to know about the bar: category creation is brand work here. Our category doesn't have heavy search volume yet, so the story, the point of view and the taste level are the growth strategy. And because our marketing is a live demo of a marketing platform, the brand bar is unusually high. That brand work still runs through a compounding engine with a pipeline number attached.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Positioning and the narrative. The messaging hierarchy is yours: the one-liner, value props by persona and the proof points, kept current as the product moves. You turn capabilities into customer language and test which framings land. That narrative powers our self-serve entry points (platform demos, API trials) and arms our Growth and enterprise sales motions, where deals actually close.
- The pipeline engine. Content and SEO, funnels and landing pages, lifecycle and paid. You design the system, decide where each dollar and hour goes, and make each step from interest to demo to onboarded customer convert better.
- Field marketing and events. Pick the few industry events worth being at for our buyers, run the plan before and after so a week on the ground turns into booked meetings, and build our own dinners and roundtables for marketing leaders.
- Measurement. Tracking and attribution good enough that every dollar and every demo is measurable and the founders trust the number. Non-negotiable.
- Lifecycle marketing. Email, nurture and onboarding emails: the system that turns a signup into a habit.
- Launches and the win/loss loop. Own the release calendar: name each release, tier it and brief sales before it ships. Run win/loss interviews and feed what you learn back into positioning, product and the deck.
- The pricing-page story. Partner with the founders on how features map to plans and what the pricing page says.
- Sales enablement. Give the sales motions the assets and narrative to scale what has worked so far.
- Founder-led amplification. Systematize, support and scale what the founders already do on social.
WHAT YOU'LL DIRECT
- Content and product marketing. You set the content strategy and pillars. Our content and product marketing lead runs the publishing cadence, the blog-first waterfall into email and social, and launch copy.
- Paid media. Set the strategy and own the funnel and creative direction. Specialist agencies run buying and optimization under you.
- PR, launches and co-marketing. You strategize and quarterback; agency partners execute.
- Creative production (video, design). Direct it to our bar. Production happens out of house.
WHAT YOU HAVE
- You've built a growth function before, ideally as an early or founding marketing leader. You've built engines, rather than optimizing one channel inside a big team.
- Range across the funnel. You can stand up a content and SEO program, run events that turn into pipeline, judge a landing page and a lifecycle flow, and hold paid and creative agencies accountable.
- Real product-marketing chops. You've written positioning a sales team actually used, and you can point to a deal your materials helped close.
- You live in the numbers. You can pull the data, trust your attribution and name results you personally drove.
- You've hired and managed marketers and agencies, and you know which work to keep in-house.
- You use AI to do the work of a team and treat that as the baseline.
- Located in or willing to relocate to New York City.
NICE TO HAVES
- You've run marketing end to end at a startup, on your own, for a meaningful stretch.
- SQL and attribution fluency.
- You've marketed something with no category yet and made the category legible.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- The number you own is qualified pipeline. Traffic and signups are inputs to it.
- First 90 days: you know our buyer cold, and the sales narrative is codified (messaging hierarchy, deck, pricing-page story), so the founders have stopped writing their own materials. Attribution is trustworthy. The core funnel from landing page to demo to onboarding is instrumented and converting measurably better. Content is publishing on a real cadence under a strategy you set.
- First 6 months: a compounding engine. Pipeline is growing from the channels and events you built, lifecycle is turning demos into retained customers, paid and PR run cleanly under your direction, and you have an earned point of view on what to keep in-house and what to rent.
