As a Youth Staff FLEX, you will play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and memorable experience for children and teens onboard during our busiest sailing periods. You will support the Youth team by supervising young guests, leading engaging activities, and delivering warm, attentive service to families.

• Actively supervise children and teens in the Youth Center and other designated venues, always maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment.
• Engage positively with parents and children, responding to questions about the program and delivering consistently high levels of guest service.
• Organize, lead, and participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities, including games, icebreakers, parties, sports, arts and crafts, themed events, and quiet-time activities.
• Manage daily operational tasks such as sign-in/sign-out procedures, preparing activity spaces, supporting meal service, and ensuring thorough clean-up and reset after each session.
• Escort and supervise groups of children in venues outside of the Youth Center, following all safety and security procedures.
• Encourage participation and inclusion, actively engaging with shy or reluctant children to ensure everyone feels welcome and involved.
• Collaborate with the Youth Manager and Youth team to plan, prepare, and update activity schedules and special events for all age groups.
• Support Youth Center administration, including basic record keeping, incident reporting, and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Work flexibly across peak periods and select port days as assigned by the Youth Manager, adapting quickly to changing operational needs and guest volumes.

Note: This is a seasonal position. Successful candidates will be on call and deployed seasonally based on projected guest counts. Employment assignments typically range from one to six weeks and are not always guaranteed.

• Education & Qualifications: Formal education or a recognized credential in education, early childhood education, recreation, child development, or a related field is strongly preferred.
• Youth-Focused Experience: A minimum of two years’ recent experience working directly with children or teenagers in settings such as schools, camps, after‑school programs, childcare, recreation, or similar youth-focused environments.
• Child Supervision & Safety: Demonstrated ability to supervise groups of children of varying ages, manage behavior positively, and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
• Activity Planning & Facilitation: Experience planning, leading, and adapting age‑appropriate activities (e.g. games, sports, arts and crafts, themed events) that encourage participation, creativity, and fun.
• Guest Service Mindset: Strong understanding of guest service principles with the ability and willingness to deliver warm, attentive, and professional service to children and their families.
• Communication Skills: Fluent English language skills, both verbal and written, with the confidence to communicate clearly and empathetically with children, parents, and teammates from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Interpersonal Skills: Personable communicator with outstanding social skills and a warm, friendly, and caring personality; able to build rapport quickly and handle sensitive situations with discretion.
• Cultural Awareness & Teamwork: Commitment to establishing and maintaining courteous, respectful, and professional working relationships in a diverse, multicultural team environment.
• Energy & Resilience: High level of motivation, enthusiasm, and physical stamina to work in a fast‑paced, shipboard environment, including long and irregular hours during peak periods.
• Adaptability & Flexibility: Comfortable working on a seasonal, on‑call basis and adapting quickly to changing schedules, guest volumes, and operational needs.
• Additional Languages (Preferred): Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage and supports communication with our diverse guest population.
