About the role
Fish are like us—we all swim together. Strange Fish are bold, curious individuals who fit right in here. Those who are comfortable just being themselves, a little different perhaps. We are looking for a Sous Chef to join our kitchen team.
This role is for a chef who takes pride in their work, enjoys working in a busy kitchen, and cares about quality, teamwork, and consistency. You do not need perfect English. We value clear communication, a positive attitude, and strong kitchen skills.

When you are on shift, you are responsible for the kitchen. This includes:
- Preparing food and ensuring high quality at all times
- Making excellent sushi and kushiyaki sticks
- Keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and safe
- Following food safety and hygiene standards
- Helping to control food costs and reduce waste
- Supporting and guiding other chefs on shift
- Making sure every guest receives a great plate of food, every time
- You will work closely with the Head Chef and be an important part of the leadership team.
You already have
- Experience working in a busy professional kitchen
- Good knife skills and sushi-making experience
- Enough English to communicate clearly in the kitchen
- Strong attention to detail and high standards
- Respect for kitchen rules, safety, and cleanliness
- You also bring:
