As a Sous Chef at Avery Healthcare's Merlin Court Care Home, your primary focus will be to support the head chef in leading a culinary team. Your role includes ensuring a nutritionally balanced, high-quality culinary service that enhances residents' well-being and meets budgetary requirements. Responsibilities involve preparing modified diets according to IDDSI guidance, supervising culinary staff, and instructing on simple food preparation activities. You must understand principles of safe food handling to maintain high hygiene standards. Avery Healthcare emphasizes values such as care, support, respect, and accountability. Our ideal candidate must exhibit compassion and commitment to high-quality culinary service delivery. A relevant catering qualification (City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2, NVQ, or equivalent), and at least one year of catering experience are essential. The role requires adaptability, flexibility, and covering various responsibilities. A DBS Disclosure check is necessary, with costs covered by Avery Healthcare, and proof of eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory.
